:?: I read some prior posts talking about Bilsteins being an awesome shock. Searching through some part stores I have been unable to find any #'s for Chevy Luv. Do they make these shocks for stock Luv's and where can you get them? I would love to have some OME's on the Luv, but I believe that they are only for Jeeps and lifted vehicles. So if not those, what is the smoothest on road riding shock? Any info would be appreciated. RF

BTW after having Rancho 5000's on my 87 Fullsize, I swore never again. IMHO those shocks suck big time. So no Rancho 5000 talk :!: RF

As far as the Bilstiens go for the front you can use some from a 86-91 Trooper(thats what I'm using right now) as for the rear your going to have to get some that are the right length for the rear( means you have to yank one of the old shocks off and see what the length is compressed and fully extended) and then just get some that are that length and have the right ends to mount up. as for the OME's same thing with the fronts, just use some made for a 86-91 Trooper(non-lifted one that is), and for the rears it would be the some deal as with the Billies. As far as shocks that have the best(smoothest) highway ride, Bilstiens are good, a little firm but they still offer a great ride. Monroe Reflex's are also another good choice, my dad has been using them on his trucks since about 2000 and hasn't had any problems with them, and they also offer a really smooth ride. As for others such as the Rancho 9000's I can't say as I haven't had a chance to try them out yet. good luck find shocks for your rig, let us know how it turns out.

My dad and I are thinking about lifting his 81 LUV 4x4 after getting done a frame swap project on it. He is replacing his rusted out frame under the 81 with a newer 86 PUP 4x4 frame. If he decides to do the suspension lift he will probably go with a budget 1.5" lift. I wanted to ask what is the best replacement shock (for a lifted truck, but still drives a lot on road) for the suspension and what will fit our newer model frame? Thanks for any advice.

Salvy

Randall, what type of truck, 2wd or 4wd? Would like your feedback after you get them on. Thanks.
