What are the proper ways to deal with a rusty frame? Its only surface rust on the frame, not rusted through, or even rusted thin anywhere. I just figure, since I have the body off the truck, I might as well handle the rust problem.

Thanks

Media blasting is the best way to go about it. But that can cost more than you think it's worth. If you're out to do the job yourself, i'd recommend pressure washing and sanding.

Blue is right, Media Blasting is the best option. If you are looking for a little cheaper option pick up some P.O.R. 15 ( Paints Over Rust ) wire brush the frame than paint the epoxy over what is left. It is made to work with rust and moisture. I actually pored some into a cup of water and it soaked in some of the water and sealed the top of the cup. Its awesome stuff.

There is this stuff (I can't think of the name of it right now, sorry) that you spray on rust and it turns it into a primer. I have never used it before, but I am going to on my LUV. When I find out what the name of it is, I will let you know.

Thats made by a few different companies, 3M has it as does Marhyde. I haven't seen any of it work right.
