my stock exhaust manfold cracked and i want to find something to replace it but cant find anything available so i want to find the 76 or newer motor and a put a 5spd tranny in at the same time any suggestions need some help please its my means of transportation and have no clue what i am looking for

I keep hearing the 2wd drive conversion for a 5 speed is much easier than the doing 4wd.
I think the only major modification is to shorten the drive shaft.

With the right 5Spd, even the driveshaft length isn't an issue. You do need to have the right yoke with the correct spline count. A 76 has a coarser spline than the 5spds I've looked at. The 5 spds match a TH350 and I believe the 4x4 LUV though.

I have not had a chance to measure a 2WD Isuzu PUP 5 spd, but the one from my 88 Impulse parts donor is the same length as one I pulled from a 76 LUV. It is also set up for a hydro clutch where the PUPs were setup for a cable.

if you are referring to xl's post, you are saying the same thing about the clutch... bikes truck is hydro, pup was cable.
What do you mean about the starter? All the 72-75 luvs had starters on the pass side...
