Anyone install a a/c from Vintage Air in their LUV? If so what system of theirs did you use? I have a 75 w/no air. Getting ready to take out the old 4banger/4spd and put in a 4.3TBI/5spd.

I haven't heard of anyone that has done it. But at one time I know that I was thinking about doing it.

I am thinking of putting AC in my 80 Luv 4x4.
The summers get pretty hurt here in Northern CA.

I'd like to hear if anyone has installed a AC kit to their Luv. THings like
the cost, how hard it was ot install, modification if needed, and where to buy it.

I've seen what looked like a stock AC system in a Luv, but that was like 6 years ago. They seem to be pretty rare.

i'm trying to collect the parts to do a stock conversion on mine... ARA made a kit for this back when the trucks were new. Can sometimes find folks that have pieces available both here and on ebay. I think HolyLUV is in work on his factory conversion and might be a good point of contact. You could post up in the classifieds for WTB Factory A/C parts and see what gets offered.

I have the ARA kit on my '80. It doesn't look to difficult to do. If you would like I will send pics. That will be after I reroute some wiring and get rid of the spagetti.

In the second picture from the top, what is that box like thing?
It looks like a modern air filter?

that's the evaporator setup.... it mounts where your shelf would mount up... leroy's_luv do you have anything in regards to a wiring diagram for this setup? I've seen bits and pieces of this setup in the junkyard and wondered how hard the wiring would be to get this going on.. especially the switch portion...

When I have a little more time I can try to draw one up for you. But I am not sure when that will be. Maybe Friday evening.

I got the parts for an AC setup on eBay and the Boneyard and was gonna put it in this summer but broke my damn foot. So now I have ta wait until I get all better to start jerkin' me engine mon.

But I saw and 80 with AC, and the pipes are serial, and there really is not that much difference in the setups with the wiring, really. On the compressor, I did not see a low or high pressure switch, so you shouldn't have a problem at all with it.

Well its gonna be a few weeks beforeI can get you that wiring digram. I crushed the ring finger on my right (work) hand so there will be no digging under the dash or hood for about 6 weeks or so.

when I was working on my boss's 36 street rod it had airconditioning. It was very very simple. only thing under the hood was the condenser. It looked really universal. It was somekind of polished aluminum one. I would like to put a set up like that on the luv i get.
