Hey guys i need to get front disc on my luv and its a 74 so i can buy everything but those caliper brackets and i was wondering has anybody ever made there own and is it possible to get a pic or is someone willing to sell a set to me that would be great thanks

The caliper brakes is part of the spindle so i rekon your better off just putting the whole spindle/disc/caliper and hub off a later luv/pup thats got disc brakes on the front.

If it works over there the same as it did here down under 81 on had solid discs and 85 on had ventilated discs. All the master cylinders were a 4 bolt pattern and you need to swap to the rear wheel cylinders from the model you got the discs off to keep the brakes ballanced.

all luv spindles are the same when you upgrade to th 76 year for disc all ou need is the caliper braket i believe or i might be wrong

It could well be, i know the arm for the steering is bolted to the rear of the spindle the caliper bracket is too.

I just rekon it would be easier to grab the lot off another truck. Do up two balljoints and the tie-rod end and your done.

The spindles share the same part #s so swapping them is a waste of time unless you got a dammaged one.
Go to the wrecking yard and find yourself the part you need and build from there.

Ive got ventilated discs that i want to fit onto my truck. They are off a later TF Isuzu. The spindles are different as the bottom ball joint points the wrong way on them.

Ive got a set of the later KB Ventilated stubs with discs etc so i might just be able to use a mixture of crap on the KB's drum stubs to get the thicker TF discs mounted up.

Its all got to come apart anyway as ive got 4 new balljoints to fit and i will probably do the suspension bushes as well.
I was going to swap the centre adjust drag link for a later one too and fit up a Trouper Power Steering box.

I had been looking at swapping in vented discs off a new Isuzu myself, tho on a 4x4. I found on an 86 Trooper that nearly everything looked the same size as my 79 4x4 LUV except the wheel seal. If I got a part machined out to fit the Trooper's hub and accept the LUV's seal it seemed like it should work out. Swapping spindles could eliminate that though. I'm also not sure the outer axle shaft length will be dead on, but I figured I could measure that out and deal with it later if it was a problem.

On a 2WD with drums, it is easy to pull all the disc hardware off the spindle and swap it to the drum truck. Much easier than swapping spindles. That is unless you are trying for the vented discs.
