If you like doing your own body and paint work you might want to check out SEMAs website and join them against banning sales of body and paint products to the general public. Apparently some major chain type body shops have joined the EPA in trying to ban sales of products to anyone that is not a federaly licenced body repair shop. It includes any body filler and maybe even spray can touch up paint that you could purchase now at a parts store.

This would be bad.

I've seen cars painted with Krylon before. I've even seen some painted with a brush and house paint!

Maybe we'll be seeing more.

Where did you hear of this? I've dug through SEMA's website and could not find any mention of it.

Almost sounds like a late blooming April fool's joke. Banning spray paint would probably cause a "Million Bubba March" on Washington, and by the time they were done the White House wouldn't be white anymore, it would be Primer.

There are some specialty paints I can see requiring licensing for. Those that are very hazardous to handle, require special equipment, etc. It would be sort of like the pesticides program, you can buy the basics at any farm store, but the stuff you need to be careful with you have to take the classes and stay certified.

It was in a shop news letter at work. It said to check SEMAs site and as you, I didnt see anything either. Im going to keep checking on and off. Maybe it just hasnt been added to the site yet. This is no joke. It was in Toyotas tech shop news letter. Ive heard people talk for years that sooner or later you wont be able to do a backyard paint job anymore. I think that time has arrived.

First they try to restrict minors from buying aresol spray paint and stuff like that (but i've gone to various home improvment stores and never been questioned), now they try this? Well, body shops have more $$$ than a DIYselfer, i think i know where this is going....

Yeah i heard the same. Barry maguer(sp) on the show Car crazy. He was talking to some sema owner about it. He did say to go to sema's site. I also looked and had no luck :? I hope this doesn't pass, How could they block spray paint? Pretty much anything anyone does they finish there project with some kind of paint or varnish! I'm going to keep checking on this! I rather do all the work on my vehicles, I'm not going to let some painter charge me 80 bucks in hour to mask off my car :x
