This is for my 80.

This one is Nappa part # 11644. Its called a by pass hose. Is it the one that comes from the head at the front and goes under the intake manifold?

Also, does any body know where I can get these hoses? The parts stores I checked say no way. Do I need to make regular bulk hose work good enough?

Check the GM dealer, they might be able to get them still. Rockauto doesn't list them, just the bypass. I made the top hose out of a couple of pre-made elbows, a chunk of straight hose, and some couplers. Unless yours are really bad, I'd say just run them. They seem to last a long time unless they get a lot of oil run through them.

OK thanks. I my just run them. I was wanting to start the new engine with ALL new belts and hoses. I don't want to have any trouble later.

I got mine at O'reillys. Gates part #19644. I would think Chief auto or Checker would have this.

Gates #19644 is the bypass hose, the one you can find still. It is the ones across the firewall to the heater core that are tough to find.

I just bought that exact same bypass hose for my '79 from Advance Auto Parts (chain store) here in Maryland. they had to order it, and it came in the next day. It was less than $10 I think. Unfortunatelly, I don't think they take orders over the phone. It does go from the front of the head to under the intake manifold. I had put a regular hose on at first, but that of course kinked. It was a bitch to get it off and the new one on once the head was back on the engine, so make sure you do it before the head/engine is back in the truck! good luck!

We are starting to get a little off topic. What we need to know is where to find the heater hoses that are on the fire wall.

I hate to take this post any farther off topic but, since we are talking 'bout hoses, I was wondering if there is a resource that sells complete hose kits.
