Just wanted to update you all that I got the engine all put back together and have been driving her for a week now and the cooling system is finally working perfectly for the first time in 4 months!!!!! Thanks again for all of your advice and help! Rock on!

That's great! Now look in to dumping the stock carb for a 32/36 Weber. It will have no effect of the cooling system and from a performance stand point, it's a much better carb. It's almost mandatory to do this on a stock engine. It will only use up more fuel because you'll be more apt to putting your foot in it. Maybe a header install too. These mods will wake up the engine without fear of losing reliability.
