I just looked up the HP and TRQ ratings for the motor, HP-265, but the FT/LB-is 390, wow, i'm gonna have fun for a while! I might just end up keeping this car, and when taxes come back and I save up a bit i'll buy another "economical" car, no beeters though, unless I find a TD PUP..... mwahhahahha

thats a perty sweet deal man. And 390 Fords are good engines too, lots of power and lots of potential for even more power...

Well, picked it up today, it needed a new power valve, accel pump, and cleaned out the carb thoroghly, got it put on and it cranked right up, but idled pretty high, so we messed around and the choke isn't working correctly on it, some nylon peice connected to a rod is busted on the choke... so I'll be looking into that. Found out the vac. advance diaphram is bad so we got a new one, along with oil & filter, some trans fluid, and odds n' ends. So tommorow i'm putting new plugs in it and I might just go ahead and put the spark advance in it as well. I love this car.

This car floats too, omg, My dad was infront of me and hit some RR tracks in the and it barely moved at about 35 mpg, so (I was in my dad's pup diesel) I thought (being the "i'm going to try too" kind of guy) hit the same tracks going faster with a air compressor and 150lbs worth of tools n' what not in the back, wasn't very pretty.

Car needs a good wash, it's some sort of cream ______ yellow, or somthing like that. it's been collecting dust and all that from sitting for 2 years.

*edited, I inhaled too much carb cleaner, gave me chavyitis, I forgot what i was talking about with the spark plugs and other stuff.... LOL

Yeah, changed the sparkplugs this aft. and put a new vac. advance in it, didn't take long to do the vac. peice, cept' for when I need the the dist. code to adj. the diaphram spring inside, and when I go to hook the vac. line.... it's too short (and that's just the start of it). Got all the plugs in and the throttle linkages lubed along with the shifter linkage, and then decided to start it, EEHHHHKKKK, no, nada, started turning over and just went dead (this was the old batt. that came in my luv, barely had the pwr to turn it over and start it, and it's 3,4,5 years) so I hooked up the pup with jumpers (running of course) once to the floor and turned the key, it started turning but started dieing down bad, tried about 5 times and it finnally started firing a bit (I thought maybe I flooded it) so I make use of the time and cleaned the windows and etc.. then tried to start it, still wouldn't idle, so got a can of starter fluid, 3 more times with fluid, a jumper and my foot got it started, FINNALLY, so I cleaned up, put some air in the tires, drove it around the block, and as soon as I get it parked right, thruh truh thruuuuhhh, shuts off... didn't even turn the alt and oil lights on. So now I gotta spend more $$ on a batt., vac. lines, etc....

That is a clean old car!!! Just hope you never have to remove the distributer. On the 390, they are known for getting seized in there and sometimes have to come out in pieces.

Before I put the vac. advance in, my dad warned me about lossing the c-clip that holds the little arm onto the points thing inside, he said if it when down in the dist. we'd have to pull it out, if we tried to pull it out, the geared rod that drives the oil pump has to be taken out, if it falls off the dist. then we have to drop the oil pan.......... so I made sure to use a magnet when I removed the clip, a little $1 investment in a telescopic mag. at harbor frieght made the difference in a $20+ mistake.....

BTW, had to put a new fan clutch on, and I bought a holley 2bbl from a guy w/ a 67 galaxie 500, I went to the guys place, picked it up for $50, but when I drove off (by this time he was way on down the road) I realized... the manifold the carb was on was from a 302.... different jets, so i'll see about getting the right ones and putting the holley on, the web says it gets it 40hp just with that. It'll have dual exhaust on it too somtime next month.... BWAHAHAHa

Went yest. to get it inspected so I didn't get pulled over......... sat in that gas station for 30min+ and the guy tells me "cars over 35 yrs old don't need stickers"....... crap, so he took the sticker off for me and commented on the car. Right now i'm about to drive it to school, then to work... which will be a few couple gal.s of gas, next time I drive it will be sat. to wash it and give it a "run-rite", it's a system that attaches to one of your vaccum lines and sucks out a mist of cleaner from a bottle suspended from the hood, that should help performance a bit cause when ignited w/ gas it removes carbon buildup from the motors heads, valves, and the like. It's got a prob. with dieseling, so my little make-shift solution is to put it in D and turn the fan on (two or three notches) and it'll shut right off. My dad says the timing needs to be adjusted and so does the choke. We want to get a TBI system for it, but we can't find one, so it's either that or a 4bbl carb and true duals w/ dyno track straight throughs or thrush turbo mufflers, my dad had thrushes on his charger, so I might go for them (they're cheaper).

Well, adjusted the timing on it (it's been a while) it was fireing after TDC, so that's good, a lifter is starting to stick a bit. BUT, when I was w/ my GF shaina last night... we had some fun... a kid at our school with a green mid 90's eclipse and the 2000's black eclipse raced me (big woop, but i still popped their bubble)... i smoked them both yest. afternoon in the LTD, they were pissing me off while shaina was in the car with me, so we got on the highway, revving up back n' forth and just stomped it while we were on the HWY headed to town, we went at it twice, the first time i smoked both of them, then the second the black eclipse started inching up (he was about 150ft away though, i was going 110), then a camaro (must've been a 95 w/ a 350) joined in the last time, the two eclipses got behind him and they kept up with me just cause they were slip-streaming, the only reason they didn't pass me was cause there was a car coming up in they're lane. But the point is they never passed me so it's all good... now I need to get shiana's dad's 460 Big block outta' their lincoln in they're yard... i'll be stompin' camaros...
