this summer i am going to build a hotrod 1.8 litre motor using a crow cam and a weber 32/36 dgev carb, offenhauser intake, a electronic ignition off of something, and a header with 2 and half inch exhaust all the way out the back, all on a .30 over motor :D :D

what horsepower ratings do you think i will have 8O

also does anyone have a luv block or a electronic ignition set up that i could buy from them :?:

Hp with all of that done will more than likely be in the 130-150 area, MEPR would be able to give you a better idea about what gains to expect for all of that work

man, that hurts...

Any way, i dont think its unreasonable to get into the 130-140hp range. Thats about where mine is. Theres an RV cam availiable that runs about 200-300, most good import shops will be able to get it(i mean stuff along the lines of VW tuning shops). Next your on the right track whith the weber, im running a 32/36 and its about enough. Though i do think it would like a 38/38 better, i run out of air at about 6500rpm but it will go to 7500rpm (ive had it up to 8000rpm on wet roads). Also i had my head shaved .020(if i remeber right) that means im running inbetween 9:1-9.5:1 comp ratio range. I had the head fully port and polished and i have the runners on the stock intake cleaned up too. The block was bored .040 for a little more cubic inches (makes it essentially a 1.9L). Im running a pace setter header whith 2" mandrel bent exsaust whith a flow master 40 the exsaust shop had in the garbage. After this stuff an electronic ignition is perty much essential, i wrote the book on adapting the 81+ G-block ignition to the older guys (but it is a short book...). Only real improvments i could think of is maybe forced induction (turbo/blower) and fuel injection from an Impulse G200, and if you have the money get a custom ground Delta cam (i did that and i think it ran me about $400 and i had to sacrafice a stock cam too). Cooling will be a BIG deal whith it. Beofe i had my radiator rebuilt it was running 220* and that was a little scary, so you will have to get a new or rebuilt rad. I run a 7lbs cap so it purges steam realy quick. Anyway that should give you enough power to keep people guessing and for the truck to torque over too.

don't forget , if you'll be running that much horse, you'll need to change the rear end ratio if you want to use all of it, i had mine running 120-130 hp and had a 6+second 0-60 but it topped out at 80 mph in fifth. i could spin it faster, but that's not good since the rebuild kits for these engins arn't cheap.

along the same lines, you'll need to up the oil pressure and volume. if you plan on spinning it faster than 5500 on a regular basis, get an oil cooler kit and a high volume oil pump. that'll add 2 quarts to the volume keeping it cooler. installing a booster pump allows you pre-prime the motor, run a lower idle (6-750 rpm) and protects the engine better if you're gonna spin it fast.

offenhauser intake

where did you get that? ive been looking for a non-stock intake for my buildup and have yet to find one.

and where is all the luv at?, where do i get a high volume pump for a G motor? oh, and what gears were you runnin in the rear with your setup? it sounds like you had 456s. the pup has 410s so i think ill be fine.

well with my 4.10s and 28" tires my truck has no problem getting up to 100mph. As for oil issues im not so shure all that is nesesary. I regularly get my engine up to 6000+rpm in mud and snow and its never even missed a beat. The stock oil pumps on these are realy well designed. Remeber this engines bottom end was first run in Isuzu Bellet GTRs and 117 Coupes wich are sports cars. They are designed to run hard. I have never had oil presure drop or starvation issues.
