I'm thinking about getting an older LUV and was wondering if any of you drove yours daily? I know they're usually meant to be our "toys" and played with on the weekends or for racing but wondered if anyone used it as their primary mode of transport. :?:

I've been driving one every day pretty much for the last 17 or 18 years. Even when I've had another rig I have had a LUV insured and ready to go or my wife was driving it. Right now I'm using the 77 LUV that was my first rig as a daily driver, still running the same motor, clutch, trans, pretty much everything just as it was when I first put it together.

my 80 4x4 was my fisrt truck. I have daily driven it since i was 16 except for one winter where i daily drove my 82 F150. They are great for DD purposes, stupidly reliable and tough as nails. You just need to watch some of the vidoe of me wheeling mine and see some pics to see that. The fact that an owner would do that whith his daily driver on the weekends and then drive it to work on monday says alot.

I used to use mine as my company car...I built a tonnau cover out of plywood so I could secure computer parts.

At times I would have $10-20k worth of stuff back there and park in all the worst areas of Oakland, CA. Never had anyone mess with my little POS...LOL, nobody would think its worth a damn. Why would they? It only cost me $15 when I bought it.

It never let me down, hell, I don't think I ever had as much as a flat tire in it. Great on gas too!

The first vehicle I owned was 1980 2WD Longbed Luv. I bought it in the evening, then looked under the hood the next morning and said "I thought I bought a Chevy?". It ended up be a favorite vechile to friends that borrowed it to haul dirtbikes around.

I want to finish my 80 4x4, and make it my dailey driver. =-P
