So i was browsing the internet looking at cars for sale, and i realised something. Cars from the 60s and before had rediculouse amounts of style. So i started comparing my 64 F250 whith the 250s of the 70s then the 80s and today. And my goodness! Nothing just seems to be quite a piece of art like that guy does. And then i started looking at the LUV, and its kinda funny how Isuzu designed the sheetmetal on these guys. They look like something that should have been made in the 60s ya know. So yeah i think if i buy another "new" car it will probly be another 40+ year old car. Sorry just had to rant...

I agree. My Ford 500 looks like every other car on the road.
My wife saw me in my pickup yesterday going the other way on the road and called me, "What you didn't see me???" I'm like "NO that car looks like it came out of a Play Dough machine along with all the Toyotas, Nissans, and all!

I agree with that too. The other problem. You cant work on your own car anymore. I need struts replaced(which you cant do on your own anyways) on my Buick but none of the guys at Toyota that I work with can do it because theres something different about the mount. It takes a specific tool just to get them off the car. :x

I guess that is why the newest car on the place is a 92 Mazda mpv. You can work on these but you will need some blue air langrage to do it. Pulling the heads is about a 3 day job. I will keep my luv 4x4.

I saw a show on tv saying that in the near future that GM wants to make there whole line of vehicles on 1 or 2 different frames. Then they also said you would pretty much buy the running chassis and you could buy all the different bodies you want. Then the bodies are made of some sort of all one piece molded plastic so you could never do custom body work and you could not paint the body because nothing would stick to the material.

I guess I look at them (newer cars) different then most of you. I like them, in fact I want my wife to trade in our 02 Mitsubishi Diamante on a new Cadi CTS with the V-8. As far as working on them, I get the 100K warranty on them, but I do have most of the newest computer software to get into the on board diag systems. I would even like to trade in my 02 Chevy 2500HD on a new Ford F450. I just so happen to like the newer technology.

of course there are exceptions.. like the cadi CTS i really like that car!! and as for technology we are going further with it than ever!!!

but as for styling.. it just seems that back in the day everything was more original and classy. and in todays market.. more and more cars seem to be clones

I guess I'm pretty mixed on this topic, I love the old styling, cars accualy had charcter to them, instead of being "just another...", but on the flip side I like a lot of the new tech thats coming out in today's cars, i mean shoot who would have thought that you could make an engine that has 505hp and can still get 32mpg!!! and then there's direct injection, diesels have had it for some time now, and now many cars have a DI engine avalible(alright maybe 3 or 4 but still) and on the computer end of things, almost any new car can tuned with a computer, and you can even plug in a computer and the car will tell you what is wrong with it, I mean it get rid of a lot of guess work, and at the same time with all of the computer stuff on there, you basicly need a degree in computer engineering to even work on them, any way, long and the short of it, old styling rocks, new tech rocks to a lesser degree, but is still cool.

I got my ASE cert on OBD II systems (what newer cars ar running now). I like what you can do with it but i still vastly prefer working on my LUV and my 64 Ford. Even with the computers the new cars are alot harder to work on. I would rather spend an extra hour or two trouble shooting the problem than have the tear an entire engine apart to get at an EGR or drop a tank to replace a fuel pump...
So yeah even the new technology dosent make it worth it in my book by a long shot...
