Here is an interesting fact about Mr. Rogers that I heard on the radio. Did you know that he started out as a minister and decided to on to tv to teach kids the morals of life, he knew he could touch more kids hearts through tv. Pretty neat if you ask me.

I never liked his show when I was young but he was one of the last genuine people left in the world. He was a good man!!

He was also a Marine sniper and had over 100 confirmed kills.
he had a little heart on his arm for every kill. that is why he had to wear that damn cardigan all the time.....

I was wondering about that I had also heard this too. That he was a sniper for the marines in Viet-Nam with over a hundred confirmed kills. Can you just imagine him sitting in a tree or bush????? Hello welcome to my neighborhood.....BANG 8O    Well anyway if it true I proudly salute him as a soldier............. as a civilian I LOVED his show as a kid! :P

sorry guys, but my circle of friends always made fun of him. Id respect him more if he would have held out in the firearm field for work. Like ted nugent. I DO agree that its a bummer when anyone kicks the bucket. Not fair.

lots of little kids looked up to him. not me. we thought he was gay. he was too swishy.

hope i didnt offend.....

I cant find any info on any kind of military career. I seen that he went to college in Florida on a music scholarship and went straight into television work, returned to Pittsburg and started the "Neighborhood". From what i can see, he hated guns. Somebody was selling t-shirts with his likeness holding a gun with the caption "Welcome to my hood". He was able to stop the sales and had the t-shirts destroyed. If anyone knows of a website that can confirm his military career, i'd like to know about it. Until then, im going to assume this is wild story like the dorky kid from the "Wonder Years" is actually Marilyn Manson.

when they hand out the Marine booklet to new recruits it has all the names of former marines. (the ones you would hear about) My bud said that Mr Rogers was in there.
