i'm gettin ready to get the exhaust in the 2.8 truck, and have suffered a quandry.

i planned on doing a true dual w/ 1 3/4" pipe.

where do i put the o2 sensor? does it even matter?

since it's a tbi engine every cyl get the same mixture right?

id just put the o2 on the pipe that comes right off the manifold. drill a hole, weld in a bung and off you go.

If you don't have much room you can mount it down stream a little farther and use a 3 wire heated sensor. The sensor must be able to get to 500 degrees f before it startes to respond to the oxygen changes in the exhaust. The closer to the manifold the better on a 1 wire sensor.

my concern is more along the lines of sticking it in a true dual exhaust, if the puter gets an acurate reading if it's only exposed to one cyl bank's exhaust

You just need to expose it to one bank so the ecm will get a reading and calculate off the amount of oxygen its seeing and compinsate the air fuel mixture either rich or lean.
