cool thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure every thing would work right since I noticed the balancers on the 2 are totally different I didnt know if it was one of those situations like the 400 where you have to use the exact fly wheel/flex plate.

i believe the 400sbc issue is they are externally balanced so you need the flexplate balancer to balance the engine

When I said flywheel/flex plate I was just using it in a generic form because not everyone has an automatic. I finally got my 283 out of my truck with some help from Derek. Now I gotta get busy so I can make it in April.

I think depending on the year of the 283, cuz Dennis's 283 is older, and has a diffrent style flywheel. If you cant afford a new one, let me know, I got one I can send ya!

If the one I have doesnt work I will let you know. As for now I am going to try to use the one I have and hope it will work. I have a lot of stuff to get done before april so I can get my truck to the meet. I hope I can get it done in time.

The balacer on the 283 is really small compared to the one on my 327 and my new aluminum water pump wont clear. Does anyone know if the Balancer is interchangable I would prefer to use the small one if possible.
