 Post subject: Power Steering Specifics
PostPosted: Mon Dec 30, 2002 7:25 am
Hello there! I read the other power steering post from earlier but found that there was no specific info in the post. I have a 79 LUV 4x4 and really wanted power steering.
Someone mentioned something about trooper parts bolting right up? What year trooper? What parts am I looking for, the pump, hoses, and steering box, or just a couple of these parts? If anyone knows, PLEASE let me know!! Thank you!

Someone has to be first right? :)

Seriously though, it's been talked about but no one has nailed down specifics about year, make, model, and what's required. So, if you do the swap please document it well so we can create a "how-to" for everyone else.

You might want to try asking a member called jondog. I think he mentioned some info on the subject. It appears that he's never registered on the message board though.

Yes, I noticed that about jondog, Ben... its too bad. :? I guess you're right, someones gotta be first and give it a shot. :x Let me see what I can come up with and if I do it, I'll document every single step and write you an article worthy of putting in your Technical Info section.

Ok but I just have to ask... theres a few companies out there that make a power rack and pinion systems for old mustangs, etc. Anyone heard of these and how they might do in a LUV? Ease of (or lack thereof) installation?

you use an early to mid 80s trooper pump hoses box and tie rods they bolt in even the right ball joints on the tie rod ends just use every thing out of a trooper only thing you have to do is cut the steering colum and grind a flat spot good luck its easy
