I know the Hitachi thing has been beaten to death around here, but I need some help. Dose anyone have an expanded diagram for this WONDERFUL carburator? I tore mine down just far enough to blow out the jets (Long story) A spring came off, and for the life of me, I can't remember how it goes back on. I know, I should have taken a pic before I started
My Haynes Manual won't be here for a week, and I'm walkin' till then!

Thanks

Thanks for your help.

Anyone have any advice for putting it on?

It's an 80' 4x4 stock engine (I'm pretty sure I think!)
Most of the smog stuff's gone, just did new points/plugs/wires/condenser, and Sea-foam in the tank.

Okay, same as mine. An adapter plate must be put on the intake manifold to align the mounting studs to the Weber. Self explanatory when you see the parts. But, on mine, allen head bolts hold the plate to the intake manifold and I couldn't find lock washers that keep them from working loose. I used spar varnish to act as lock tite, since you can't get at them when the carb is in place. You don't have to cut the swedged end on the throttle cable off. Take the Weber piece off the primary throttle shaft to which the cable is supposed to hook and use the one on the Hitachi, which will fit on the Weber. I disliked Weber's jury-rigged fix. How many miles before it comes off and leaves you stranded? You can get an adapter that will allow your stock breather to attach to the Weber. That way you can leave exhaust manifold preheated air available for cold morning starts in the winter. Connecting the breather to the valve cover mounts by using the correct size bolts as standoffs. You'll have about a half an inch clearance from the hood when it's closed. This is what has been my setup for nearly 3 years with no problems.
Used to be stationed art Mountain Home when I was in the Air Force. I retired and lived in Coeur d Alene for nearly 30 years before moving back to Washington this past Summer. Post any questions.

:D

Thanks, got my new carb kit today, didn't have time to get it done (had to do valve cover gasket ect..) I have already switched the linkage over THANKS :smt041 that worked awsome!!!

Quick question, what's the easiest way to remove the old carb studs? Can I just use vice grips?

Also, do I need to re-attach the vacume line from my valve cover to the intake manifold?

This tottaly sucks I have to wait till tomorrow night to put it on!!! :smt013

Thanks again-

Yes to vise grips, BUT before cranking them loose, spray liberally around where they enter the intake manifold with penetrating oil. Then with a hammer and center punch tap the top of the stud vertically to dislodge the studs a little and let the penetrating oil seep down around the studs. Maybe a couple or three times and let set over night. You DON'T want to strip the threads in the aluminun manifold. And it's easily done. And yes to the vacuum line from the valve cover. That's your PCV valve connection.

WOW!!!

It went on with no huge problems :D

My truck, (sniff, sniff) CAN NOW GO 70 FREAKIN' MILES AN HOUR!!!!!!

I would have never imagined that something so easy would wake my truck up so much. It'll be even better when I get the exhaust done on the 1st.

Thanks for the help 8)

Glad to hear it went well and is working good for you.
Remember, you just gave new lungs (carb) to an old heart (pistons and what not). You play too much and it could go BOOM!!
So enjoy.. but not too much.

What is Sea Foam in the tank??

I know, I know, My old gal aint what she used to be, but if it did go boom, What an excuse for a 1.9 motor!!!!!!! Heheheheheeee....

Sea-foam is a marine aditive, you can put it in the motor, or in the gas tank, (I know guys that have used it in auto trannys) and it cleans the crap (no pun!) out of yer' inards. It has worked wonders for me on other rigs I have used it on. IF YOU USE IT IN THE TANK, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A FILTER BETWEEEN YOUR FUEL PUMP, AND YOUR CARB!!!!!!!
It cost me a new carb, because it cleaned out my fuel pump, and it all got jammed into my carb!

Did I mention my new Weber TOTTALY ROCKS!!!!!!!! :smt023

You got more air coming in, now you need to get a header and open the exhaust up a bit so it can get out. Each upgrade seperate is good, but the two together makes more than just adding up the two increases.
