i was wondering if there was anyway that i could keep my 4 speed manual in my 78 luv when i put a 305 in it.

No... If it were possible, it wouldn't be a good idea. The stock trans most likely wouldn't hold up to the extra power.

if you want to stay with a 4 spd look in to a muncie or the old borg warner that came in the muscle cars but they are pricey.or you might look in to a 5 spd out of an 80s camaro. i dont know if you would run into any problems on the 5spd . and keep in mind those 5spds dont hold up well to alot of horse power so it depends on how your building it. :twisted:

to get it to work you would have to costum make an adapter plate that would cost too much then the first time that you tried to move the truck whith its own power the tranny would granade posibly hurting you and people around you. I would definetly try to get a 4 speed from a 70s camaro or something (these are a little better becouse they had to contend whith extra wieght) and just buy one from a junk yard (shouldnt be much more than $400) and rebuild it. It will take longer but belive me its alot cooler driving around in a truck you built whith your own hands. 8)

you can also find muncie 4 spd in the chevy vega . and there the same
as the muncie out of a muscle car . :D
