Has anyone ever attempted to convert to a manaul (no vac booster) brake setup? Im just wondering if it's worth the hassle, but the extra room would be nice. Also looking for ideas/pics on plumbing in a line lock, thanks

I know someone who needs to hook theirs back up. Personally, I would leave it, but I just don't like the feel of the brakes without it.

You could unhook it and see how it feels to you I guess. I feel like Im going to not be able to stop in time and run into something. Maybe a mind thing though...

Well I doubt the motor will make enough vacuum to work the booster, I might look into adapting a smaller ID master cyl. - I hate to hassle with power brakes if I can avoid it.

If you REALLY want to be different, you could find a hydraboost setup off of a 1 ton pickup.... Much smaller than a power brake setup, yet it makes up to 3000 psi line pressure...

Fine as in stand on the pedal and hope you stop, or fine like it feels like your novas brakes?? I still want good brakes.

If ya ask me, leave your brakes alone. If they work, don't mess with a good thing. Most important part of your truck...IMHO :)

im running no vac to my brakes as my booster failed on me. Im not too worried about it. It will take you some getting used to, but now i dont even notice it and im planning on not running em in the other LUV too.

Its worse when you have a mogambi roller cam and no vacuum and you hit the brakes and the pedal hits the floor. You'll be slamming it into Neutral and revvin the hell out of the motor hoping to get just enough vacuum to keep you from running into that intersection up ahead. Been there done that. no thanks! I took out the booster a long time ago and just bolted the master cyl up to the firewall. I don't think i even had to modify the rod either. its a must if you run a big cam.... unless you run a moroso vacuum pump too. Summit and Comp vacuum cans are a waste of $$$ IMO.

I installed a mustang II master cylinder on my other LUV truck (before I knew the stocker would do the job) and I believe my friend is using a Camaro manual master on his. I may go back to power brakes later on if I end up running a vacuum pump.

When I was specin the brakes for the nova I remember that a smaller Master cyl piston OD the better the pressure/force.

Anyone know the smallest OD aluminum unit? Im also thinking ill just rerun the front brake lines through the line lock, and reroute the passenger side down and ahead of the motor like GM does.. Hate to drape it over the firewall like stock. Also anyone ever notice the rear brakes are the front fluid sump? Didnt ford do that? lol Thanks for the info man!

what about the emmisions pump? anyone think of that? take the inlet and run that to the vacuum booster... the outlet... just stuff some steel wool in the end so nothing gets in it.... or mount it to reroute into the air cleaner. I know they make decent vacuum.

using a smog pump for a vacuum pump is pretty common. it works for sure but like a vacuum pump, you're using the crank to drive it and using some HP.
