Hello all, I am a new luv diesel (82 4x4 2.2) owner trying to replace the head and pushrods bent by the previous owner's neglect of the timing belt. I have all the parts and gaskets but the factory service manual from ebay hasn't arrived (holiday mail I guess). I am very anxious to drive it and see how she does and all I need are the head bolt and intake/exhaust torque #'s and the valve lash adjustments. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, congrats on a great truck. I can give you the torque numbers as I have the 1982 LUV workshop manual. Here are the specifications for which you asked:

Intake and exhaust (cold): 0.40 mm (0.016 in)
Intake and exhaust (hot): 0.37 mm (0.015 in)
Intake valves open at 16 degrees (BTDC)
close at 54 degrees (ABDC)
Exhaust valves open at 56 degrees (BBDC)
close at 14 degrees (ATDC)

You have to tighten cylinder head bolts in 2 steps in sequence.

1st: (40-47) ft. lbs
2nd (new bolt): (54-61) ft. lbs
(used bolt): (61-69) ft. lbs
