HERES A GOOD ONE FOR ALL YOU GEAR HEADS!! :D
I WANT TO V-6 MY 1980 4X4. I would really like to use a four speed trans, with a manual transfer case. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone done somthing like this? Does Trans dapt. have any thing like a kit or somthing that would work? I am tired of junk from the wrecking yards and really tired of "CRACKED" heads! Like fuel in the oil! I just went through the 1.8 and it took a big dump, went to change the oil and found out that I had fuel in my oil!! FRIED THE WHOLE DAMN THING!! I have another from the wrecking yard(1.8 out of 79) but I am kind of gun shy about putting it in! Its not alot of work but its a big P.I.T.A.
(pain in the ass) LOL!! I have put alot of work into the thing and just re-did the interior with "LEVIS JEANS" Turned out really good. (or atleast I think it did!) ANY ONE WITH ANY IDEAS OR JUST SOME GOOD OL' FASHIONED HELP WILL GREATLY BE APPRECIATED!!

Just to let you know fuel in the oil isnt a result of a cracked head. That usually happens when your piston rings go bad. The 1.8Ls are great engines you just have to watch em a little more closely is all, i have aboiut 100,000 on my curent engine whith no problems and its built up perty hot.
But as far as a v-6 swap goes, opnly thing i could think of that would be somewhat easy would be a 2.8L GM out of a trooper. The mounts should be the same or close to it and the original 4 speed tranny should bolt up.
