Are there any tall guys out there running a cage or bar? I think im going to have to go to a poly or aluminum seat in mine to drop down, im 6'3 and the top of my helmet is 2" away from the headliner. Hoping I can keep the headliner (some classes require the interior be unaltered) but make the 3" minumum NHRA requires me to be under the bar. Also looks like I can send the front down bars right through the dash if I put some holes in it, whats two more holes in it right. and tie the cage under the floor with a 90 welded joint to the frame in the front and rear. Im hoping there will be enough room for me after all the tubing is in! lol Im open to any neat ideas!

I got a lot of good roll cage ideas right in our photo gallery, some cool ideas for sure! Thanks

I am 6'3 as well. I will have to make my own cage to make it fit my body. I figure I will order a bunch of chrome moly and break out the tig welder. It sucks being tall and choosing a small vehicle to play. Sort of filling a 5 pound sack with 10 pounds of shit.

Is that the aluminum style? I think those are legal in any class cause the safety factor, my rule book is kinda old - it just says it must be 'covered' let me know how that seat works out.

I think now is the time to buy the material.. I just got 50 feet of 1 5/8 steel seamless for 4.38 per foot, last time i was quoted over 7 bucks a foot! The falling gas prices are helping! :D

Are most of us LUV owners over 6 feet tall??? I am 6'3" also (was about 6'6" when I had hair 8O ). I know this isnt much help but I was worried when I put in my chrome show bar about hitting my head but it is far enough back. I dont know if my seats are a little higher but I dont think I could drive the truck with a helmet on. My heads the roof enough as it is.

All us big guys driving little truck explains all the short guys I see driving the big lifted 4x4's.

At my local track they dont say anything....And the seat im ordering will prolly drop me low enough to be under the roll bars lol. It is a pain in the butt to get in and out of though, its actually kind of funny....

Thanks Gabe! I can use all the help I can get thats for sure. I found the tubing at D&J steel, price was good so I got 60 feet. I know what I need, just need to bend the main hoop and halo bars up, I was going to get a quote from D&J to just form it up there, but they get $90 an hour. I got 3 20 foot sticks, going tomorrow with my drawings. I know I will need your help maybe to bend the downbars. Right now with the snow fall and crappy weather, I may need to park the nova at my buddies and move the LUV into my garage, I think santa's bringing a space heater for the garage, damn it's cold! lol - or it may just wait till spring too. - Hey luvondope got any pics of your 12 point?
