Hey, guys im a new member here but i have been reading the forum for a few weeks and decided to go ahead and join....

My question is though how much with a luv frame take? powerwise that is. I drag race a 79 with a 406 in it right now and im just not how much power this thing will handle without twisting. Its a stock frame with laddr bars and race coilovers in the front. Its a race vehicle over but what can this thing handle powerwise???? thanks in advance

mine runs 10.2 @ 130mph 1/4 mile corrected alt of 4500ft. i'm using stock stuff other than a narrowed rear end 9' ford on the stock springs with home made traction bars. pulls 1.50 60ft times and pulls the left front tire about an inch leaving off the footbrake. it will hold more i just dont have more engine right now. running a bbc 468 roller motor, launch at 3000, shift at 7000 out the back door at 7400.. power glide / 4.88 gear 14.5x32x15 slicks. the stock square tube frames with a rollcage are very hard to beat. do as i am = run her till she breaks and then let everyone know. aint see one break or twist yet. about 5 running here in our area.

see the thing is that i am already turning 10.80's in the 1/4 when i run it..... I just wonder if it can handle a 427 SBC with another 100HP or so from what im running now. My motor dynoed at 531HP and 511 ft/lbs of torque so i just dont know. Thanks for the answer though

Well im sure you have a cage of some sort, i dont see why you couldn't get into the 1000HP level with a LUV with a good cage in it. I would think the rear would fail before you had frame issues. The fastest LUV I recall on a stock frame ran 9.30, with a small block on methanol here at our local track a while back. Im sure there are faster ones somewhere lol - Got any pics of your rig?
