Hello all, I know this is a luv forum but Isuzu pup's and and Chevy luv's are pretty similar right? I know theres alot of knowledgeable people on here as well so I figure to give it a shot and see if I can get any advice.

Ok I have a 1986 Isuzu Pup that I'm going to start as a new project. I was going to gut the whole truck and give it a full make over.I wanted to swap a big block into it and was wondering how much c.i. I can get into the enginebay and still have room for everything else. I figure it would resemble a Chevy Luv swap but don't know what year Luv is the same as the 86 Pup. I seen some of your projects on here an I'm impressed. I want to go way bigger than a 350c.i, possibly a 400+ci if it wont fit bigger, and got a few Chevy crate motors in mind. Rear end and tranny wont be a problem as I will just match it according to what engine I decide to drop in. Never done a swap on a Pup before but wondering if you guys think this will be too much work and maybe I should just buy a different vehicle that will fit a big block easier. Any comments would be appreciated thanks guys.

Although the Pup and the last year Luv's are very similar, there area a few differences that Isuzu made in between 82 and 86.

here is another web site that is Isuzu specific, and they have a weath of knowledge that I'm sure they'd be willing to part with. Oh and when your there ask for Lowzone, he's the resident Pup specialist, and really knows his stuff

good luck with your project :D

The 86 has the same frame as an 81-82 LUV, so you should be able to get a bit more in there. You might find that you will run out of room, but nothing a hammer and a few beers won't take care of.

you might head to http://www.isuzupup.com, you ahve a better chance of finding lowzone there. but your question about what years the luv and the pup body style you and I have are 81-82 luvs are the same as our 81-87 pups, with some minor revisions though the years by isuzu.
