A couple of days ago as I was walking away from my truck to the supermarket a voice calls out, "Nice truck!" I looked over and the guy wasn't drooling or glassy eyed so I stopped to chat with him. We talked and he said he had a bunch of LUV's and to stop by. So today I made the 100 mile round trip in my stock '75 LUV and came back with a bunch of parts.

1 tailgate that's primo, both latches, both support straps, driver's fender, front fender clearance light, intake manifold, T/D Weber adapter, and a Weber carb. Prices were for each item, $5 here $5 there and the total came to $40! I'm a happy guy....

Don't know about the Weber 'cause it's kinda oddball: it's a 26/34 DHSA [very similar to a 28/32 ADHA] but it's all there. Anybody know anything about this carb? I've also got a 32/34 DFT that I can use if it's any better specs.

Hey farmer joe,

I would, but....I will need to rebuild both carbs and then test run them on the LUV, and if they're both good the smaller carb will go on the LUV and the larger one will go on a Slant 6 I have. I think the guy might have one more he'd part with so when I see him I'll try to get it and maybe then I'll have one for you. I do see them on older Couriers in the boneyards too.

Ya Joe, that's where to find them. There's several different Webers used and the Pierce website has a wealth of info including pictures of almost every Weber carb you're likely to find. You can print out some of their pdf.'s and take them with you to the boneyard and compare to find the exact carb you want. They were also fairly reasonable on parts. They wanted $16 on a carb kit that my local Napa dealer wanted $36 for!

http://www.piercemanifolds.com/products.htm

I wish I already had these 2 carbs rebuilt and had tested them so I could let you know if they're actually good candidates for your vehicle. I'll have that done probably within a week or so [?] and if you can wait that long I'll post here and give details on their performance and stuff.

By the way, there used to be a wreckers between Jerome and Twin that had a BUNCH of old cars & trucks, but they seemed to be going or were already out of business [a few years ago]. If they're back up or whatever they had loads of old stuff. It's visible on the right side of the hiway heading towards Twin.

RE: Weber 32/34 DFT and 28/32 ADHA

Seems there's a problem getting the linkage I got from Pierce to fit this setup on a 75 LUV. I think they sent me the stuff to adapt a 32/36 DGV and the bellcrank doesn't want to work.

The carbs, both of them, have the throttle pull in the wrong direction for a '75. Stock has the cable pulling from driver's fender side with the throttle linkage pulled back to that side by the cable. Both these carbs are set up so that cable should pull in the opposite direction, as having cable pulling from passenger side. Also the orientation of the Pierce bellcrank holes, especially the mounting hole with flats on it, require that the throttle cable pull straight up or straight down because of a difference in the throttle shaft. That is, the flats on the throttle shaft and the flats on the mounting hole don't want to jive.

Also the throttle cable mounting bracket from Pierce has the wrong orientation, as if it is also designed to hold a cable pulling from opposite side of carbretor.

I'll call Pierce again today, but I wanted to post this as a warning not to jump on just any old Weber you find! I can fabricate what I need, but the adapter plate and linkage have already cost me $75 from Pierce so far and I don't know if they'll take them back or what.
