Didn't see him out there.. I was out there all weekend, had some fun! I managed to get it in the 11. teens on the motor, and if I had the next size up jet I think it would have went faster yet. So I disconnected the secondaries Saturday afternoon and got it to run 11.60's fairly consistently at around 113 (not bad for only half a carb!) and decided to run the pro class brackets Sunday.. I did great till the second round, brokeout with an 11.60 flat, to my 11.62 dial. The car just kept getting faster as the track warmed up in the afternoon eliminations, shoulda went with an 11.60 dial, but what can ya do! I did get to send a nice mopar home on the trailer in the first round with an 11.64 on my same dial. My reaction times were .058, .050, and .014 on Sunday, at least I can still cut a decent light lol

sounds like you had a pretty good weekend. Mine was crappy had to work in yuba city home of the turbin heads. Today was the first day in like almost 5 months I actually drove my LUV. I let the registration run out so I went and paid it up and decided I was going to take it to the pay and spray to get rid of all those black widows. Besides the fuel line that rotted off at the carb and almost started a fire and the transmission acting weird it was fun. I dont know for sure what the transmission problem is from but if you put in 1st gear its like its in neutral and then you give it a little gas and its like dumping the clutch. Last time and every other time I have driven the truck if you let it shift from 1st to 2nd anywhere over 2000 rpms it chirps the tires now it feels kind of mushy compared to normal. is it possible its low on fluid? I know I should have checked but I didnt (oops).

After looking for the trans dipstick today for like 20 minutes I finally got the balls to stick my hand up under the truck in Black widow territory to feel for it. I keep running into stuff that was done by someone so stupid I cant believe my truck didnt either catch on fire and burn down or have some kind of mechanical faliure and end up totalled out. so I stick my hand up around the transmission and felt a dip stick counldnt believe what all I ended up finding. The dip stick was cut down to like 5 inches and there is an access in the floor board under the carpet. so I ended up putting like a quart and a half of tranny fluid in it and she works like new again. When I forced my brother to crawl under the truck to put in and take the drive line he hurried up and stuck another yoke in the trans and said it didnt hardly leak anything out so I figured nothing to worry about. well today he told me when he went to put it in he found the yoke had fell out and he forgot to tell me.

Then the whole time I was asking myself why the hell dont I just drop a V8 in and be done with it lol Then my wallet reminded me to just fix it! Im kinda glad the racing season is about done, i'm officialy piss ass poor :smt013 I blew $300 just last weekend on fuel, oil, entry fee's, a set of plugs, and some jets, and my nitrous bottle is empty I cant afford this crap! lol

I know what its like to wrench in the cob webs and I also know what its like to spend to much money on cars (#1 reason for ditching the circle track stuff). If you want to drop a V-8 in your truck I will give you my 283 after I get it out. I need to get rid of it you can have it if you come get it. I know its a 283 and its everything but It would make a good daily driver with little work. If you are interested in my 283 let me know I need to get rid of it and I dont know anyone that wants it I will even throw in the performer intake and the cool cheesy chrome valve covers. Depending on my work schedule I think I am going to pull it out saturday.

So what you going to do if you ditch the circle track gig? I've never met a real man that could give up the need for speed lol

consider the 283 yours I will call you when its out and I will even deliver it to you. I have been considering driving my Luv as a daily driver I have a new Ford that sucks alot of gas has a big payment and high insurance payment. My circle track car has been gone for a week now. In some ways I miss it and some ways Im glad its gone. I got tired of dumping tons of money into something that gets ran into, has a list of rules that is about as thick as phone book and changes on a weekly basis, and then I cant even drive it unless its on the track and that was getting old. Im getting into this hot rod thing more and more and its fun to actually drive my luv once in a while. If you come across one of those camaro drive lines that I need for the s-10 rear end let me know I think I am going to go that route now.

Thanks man.. I have a camaro driveline but not sure what year... I will measure it from u-joint to u-joint to give you an idea.. and I have another driveline for a stock LUV rear with a th350 yoke if you want that too. As you may know drag racing is alot simpler (and not as political) compared to circle track operations, do like I do and run what ya brung, and just bracket race lol Cheaper too I think, and low profile. I just love the thrill of the intense acceleration and speed! With a 3.43 gear in my old LUV truck the 383 in it got about 17-18 mpg around town, it had a q-jet carb, a 2800 pound truck just doesnt use much gas if you keep your foot out of it.

Is the stock Luv rear end stronger than the s-10 rear end? Drag racing sounds a whole lot simpler compared to circle track stuff to me. I used to laugh about drag racing and say it was for people that cant think for more than how ever long it takes you to get to the other end of the track. I know its complicated as far as set ups and everything goes for people like me that only know how to turn left running in a pack of squirls. Im going to get my s-10 rear tomorrow if I get back in to town early enough to pick it up. When I get time to put it in the truck maybe I will have you measure your drive line for me to figure out what I need.

Hey I was out at pick n pull, might go again today - saw 2 92 ford explorers, rears complete for the taking, pretty sure they were both posi/3.73 too, just drum brakes.. Also 3 80 luv 4x4's, all with motors and trannys, im eyeballing a 5-speed tranny to swap into my 76, anyone ever do this? I guess they dont do the half off sales now lol I would love to grab both those ford rears hehe

D
