i have tried lowering my luv at the front with the torsion bars, but it was ridding on the bump stops and driving it was like i had no suspension at all. is there any way i can lower it without adjusting the torsion bars

There is really no other option for lowering then the bars. I have never seen a pair of lowered spindles.

That is about it for lowering in the front without major fabrication. About the next easier way to go would be going to coilover shocks and taking the bars out. You can trim the bump stops some and get a little more room though. Whatever you do, leave some space when you lower it down so that you still have some travel in the suspension. It doesn't take much, that last half inch of lowering it all the way onto the bumps costs a whole lot in ride quality and handling.

if i lower the torsion bars with a smaller bump stop, will it damage or compromise the performance of the shocks?

Only if they are bottoming out. Pull a shocker out and have a measure.

You could while you are changing over the bump stops, wind the bars right down and look to see if there is still shaft showing on the shocker. You would want the arm to frame to be metal to metal.

take out the bump stops i had the same problem you have

was all happy i lowered it to the bump stops then i end up pretty much jumping over every dame crack in the road so i took the stops out and it lowered it about 1 more inch and then i raised it up about an inch and its pretty smooth

these trucks have a torsion bar front suspension, just like every other import truck. All you need to do is buy Jason's torsion bar kit (http://www.suicidedoors.com) and do some welding and cutting.

I would recomend you go here, http://www.bagginit.com/ and read up on whats involved, these are the basics. As for specific to torsion bar suspensions head to http://www.streetsource.com and pop into the forum and ask some questions, anyone can help. Even Greenchev and I.

Essentially you are going to need to cut out the shock tower, Almost completly. Remove the entire torsion bar portion of the suspension. Notch the frame rail so the lower control arm can pass up into it. Get a firestone 224 (2500 series) air bag and mount it on the lower control arm. Take jasons torsion kit and weld the upper bag mount to the upper portion of the cut shock tower and use the supplied gussets to brace the bag plate against the frame. Make sure you measure measure measure, your bags CANNOT touch the gussets or the spindle when the bags are inflated or deflated. that is basically it,,,a quick and dirty description for the front.

the rear is fairly simple, just take off the gas tank and throw it awayor give it to someone, get a fuel cell, measure out the length of the lower and upper four link bars and call Jason at suicide and he will fab them up for you. Mount your four link, make a crossmember to clear the driveshaft and to mount the forward portion of the four link........again quick and dirty description.

Hope that helps...now go read http://www.bagginit.com!!!!

when yall lower the torsion bars how far are yall going? i have 3 " blocks for the rear and i measured it and ill have to drop the front about 1 3/4 to 2" in the front to get it even. This wont make it rub or nothing will it? just looks like the front would rub. thanks.
