We have had 2 water heaters in the house get holes in the tanks last month. One was only 3-4 years old and the other was 13. I was talking to other people and theyve had similar problems. My dads only lasted 5 years, my bro inlaws was 6, a co-workers went 6 also, a contractor I was getting advice about something else said he had one go bad in 5 years recently. All rusted holes in them like ours did. So yesterday we ordered a tankless one. They are double in price but I wont have to worry about a utility closet floors full of water.

Yep. But we have filters and softeners that are supposed to help.
