All righty fellers, help me out. my stocker is not in the moving mood.
I took the driveline out to replace the rear u-joint. My problem is I cannot get the damned caps to come out. I busted a couple of the clips but ended up getting them out. I can't get the caps to move at all. Any ideas?

BTW the one leg hogged out the cap so bad no more needle bearings 8O

A big vise and a smaller socket usually gets them to move. It's best to have 2 people doing this, one to hold the drive shaft up and the other to squeeze the socket on to the cap of the u-joint. Once you get it moving, it should be easy after that.

Got them out, basically with the same method only no big vise, big hammer instead. socket on one side, drift pin on the other. scored up the yokes a bit, cause the open end of the caps were flared out. Lots a cussin, some light taps, cussin, not so light taps, smoke break. repeat with increased tap force as needed.

Moral of the story, if your u-joints start making noise, don't put off replacing them.
