So I guess in fact that the officers cars will be checked as well???
they do NOT meet factory standards for emission nor the MPH limits .
they have mods to the computers that let them rev higher and go faster, this in turn makes them excede the emissions requirements.. But no one has thought of that have they?????

law enforcement vechicles are exempt

I guess a hood lock will be on order for me. The trunk being locked didnt work for though. When I was in high school headed to a party we had this great idea to fill the trunk with ice for our beer. I got pulled over because the cop saw something dripping out of the trunk. When he asked what it was my loud mouth buddy said "oh its nothing just ice melting" And the search was on.

wow that really sucks.... first emmisions then this bs... I feel for all you in cali...

It's kinda like that here in Rhode island... Emmisions are similar to cali's with vehicles 25 years and older exempt...

Exhaust systems used to be a major hassle until a court ruled that a "loud exhaust system is not a defective one" so that stopped that, but i've heard that they are going to tighten up on things like emmisions and modifications... wtf

I cant stand the heat, but shiznit like this makes me want to go to florida... No emmisions check, no inspection whatsoever.. matter of fact if im not mistaken i dont think they even require insurance... If thats the case the premiums would be really low...

Just my 1-1/2 cents worth....

Ok Thats it! I am moving to oregon as soon as I get the money and i am goig to put a V8 in my 79 yes thats right 79 LUV screw cali and thier dumbass laws! I lost my car, license for 6 months, $1800 fine, a year of automotive probation and 4 points on my record for screwing around on the street. It's basicly like you cant even OWN your own car they can put restrictions on anything. I bet they will start taxing the air next.

P.S. I hate california laws!

Just what we need, more Californians up here in Oregon. :P As long as you are prepared to vote against tougher smog rules I guess I wouldn't complain though. Just don't whine about the income tax and get some crazy idea we need a sales tax. I like paying 50 cents for a 50 cent candy bar.

Yeah, right now the portland area and the rogue valley area are the only areas that require it. In fact my parents are just outside the boundry. But the luvs are old enough now not to have to smog them anyway.
When I had my first truck w/ V8 had to have it registered at my aunt's house about 12 miles away.
