i dont know if its just cuz weve done the swap sooooo many times before, but the motor and tranny went in NO PROBLEM!! no cutting the core support, and NO CUTTING THE FIREWALL EITHER!! it just went right in like it was sposed to be there from the factory. the 2004r trannys mount sits right on the crossmember and the oil pan fits right behind the front crossmember. the blockhugger headers fit great too. were gonna be making motor mount tommorow, so ill get some good pics.

sooo i thought id share the news.

Cool!

I'm curious to see how well that 2004r does. I couldn't manage to get a 700R4 to stay together in mine so I'm curious to see if the 200 is any better.

well ive heard and seen 2004rs hold up great behind power. theyre the stock trannys that come in GNs. but yeah. lots of poeple who have buick olds and pontiacs call em "the 4 speed powerglide" on account of how sturdy theyre built.

There is some info out there that the 200r4 is actually better than a 700r4. According to this info the 700r4 has some design flaws that the 200r4 doesnt.
As stated the 2004r was behind the Buick GN, GNx and some high hp engines. Remember thet the Buick GN was faster-quicker that the Corrvett. It peally pissed the Vett people off. Faster than a Ferrari too.

Both can be built to be tough street-strip tranny's. The most industrable tranny is a built powerglide. TH 400 would be next. TH 350 is good too. I have run 350 turbo behind some fairly hot Big block chevy's. We would race all season without any problems. Tear it down in the off season for freshing up. The th350 uses less horsepower to operate then a th400. the powerglide uses even less.

the motors mounts are done. we too the old truck style clamshell mounts and cut em down just for the 3 hole pad and welded some 1.5x1.5x.25 square tubing to em. then the square tubing sits on top of the frame, where it is welded never to come off ever again!lol i didnt have my camera tonite, so ill get some pics to em tommorow.

another good thing is the blockhuggers fit perfectly with room enough to run 2 1/2in head pipes. everything is just fitting really good with this truck.

the motor is runnin. the unilite dist that was gonna be used didnt work, so we just put the HEI back in it and BAM, it started right up. the higher copmpression makes the thing sound soo good. we couldnt get everything dialed in though, theres a few vacuum leaks that need plugs and the tiing needs a final set, but it runs.

pics comin soon!

the motor is just a standard 350 bored 30 over to make it a 355. the tranny is a 2004r with is a 4 speed overdrive auto tranny.

anyways, thanks for the comments.

the driveline will be back maybe tonite or in the morning so its gonna be driven tommorow FOR SURE!
