i am air baggin' a '78. everything is getting shaved. my friend owns crazy dicks rod and custom in tyler, tx. we are going to custom fab a roof structure and roof, and make it into a luv panel wagon. i have never seen anything like that before, and i thought it would be pretty pimp. i wanted to get some comments on the idea. "mini panel" tell me what you think

Do you have any "concept drawings" of what your planning to do? Do you plan on following the same roof line? Will the bed and body be integrated into one piece? Will you rework the bed rails for a smooth body line? How do you plan on working the tailgate area? Are you going to fit a pair of doors? The idea sounds great but your leaving too many questions unanswered. I have a picture in my mind of a smaller 60's era Suburban "Carry All" with 2 headlights instead of 4. Show us pictures of what your going for! If you dont commit fully to it, it will look like a permanent camper shell.

i am planning to follow the existing roof line, as to look stock. the sheet metal used will flow into the bed smooth. the bed will be moved forward and mated with the cab. as for the rear, i have not decided if i want two doors or one big swinging door yet. it will have to fabricated. i do have sketchings, and i will try to get them on here. it will look like the factory produced it when we are done.

Cant wait to see some drawings! I just hope it doesn't end up looking like a PT cruiser.

Like i said "I hope it doesn't look like a PT cruiser". I have a mental picture of a 60's era Suburban "Carry All". Because of the roofline and the bodyline. I think the Luv and the Carry all would match styles pretty smooth. We will just have to what for some drawings. CAN WE SUBMITT SOME DRAWINGS TO YOU GREENCHEVY? You could have a contest of some sort.

sound like a good idea, but with all the fabricating, you could create a real eyesore if it isnt done perfect. you sound like you have the confidence to have it done right.

ever see guys try to do metal fab'ing and it looks like crap. Ive seen things that i would be embarassed to haul to the junk yard.

last years hot rod show here in spokane, some guy had a darker luv, chopped top, lowered, and there were huge- gaping bondo cracks all over the car. he painted it over the cracks, we are talkin 1/4" wide, 1/2" deep! 8O

you idea sounds cool.

Think of this type of body style tied into the lines of the Luv. This is what im thinking of. But without windows!

i dunno..maybe its the lack of sleep but a PT converted to a pickup, rearwheel drive, 8.0 viper engine and six speed doesn't look that bad....

the pt's didnt bother me until I got to see what kind of people were buying them. Its a little hot roddy, you know, but all these old people buy them and hang like dingle berries from the mirror. if they would charge double for the car, it would be more that just a volkswagon wannabee. they are a dime a dozen.

too bad.

I cant remember anyway it is the new chevy retro truck.

This is my idea of what a "Carryall Luv" would look like. Its tough to get a true concept because it looks flat on paper, you have to figure the way everything would mold together. The other trailing edge roofline is a 70's era van
