Well I am putting a V8 in my LUV and thanks to people on here I know what im in for. I have a couple problems though. Im not sure what rearend to use. I am going to be getting on it a lot, Possibly taking it to the track every once in awhile. What do you guys suggest I am not into the 9" by the way lol. I also want something posi. Can I make a 12 bolt fit or possibly a dodge rearend?

Problem 2...

My truck is a 79 so I figured I will just find a 72-75 LUV for real cheap (because of cali smog laws) and do the swap on it and put my bed and fenders and stuff on it. Will I have any problems with making them fit? Also can I make my 2 headlights work on the older models? Im not crazy about the 4 headlight setup.

A 8'' ford out of a v8 Mavrick would hold up pretty well and I think it might be a bolt in.I put a v8 in my truck and thats what I'm looking for.

well how built is your motor gonna be? if its just gonna be a mild 350 id just say go with a s10 rearend. it drops right in. hook up your brake lines, and get some 5 lug chromie rims like you got now and off you go. an s10 rear will hold 350 rwhp no problem. you can find a posi for the s10 rear really cheap too.

anything from 82 to present day s10.

theyll cost you about $100-$250 from a salvage yard.

I am just going to bore it out .060 over, big cam, forged 10:1 pistons, shave the heads, port n polish, with a 750 edlebrock and a victor jr. intake probably.

well it all depends on where you get it from. peeroy got a posi for his s10 rear for 80bux off of ebay. brand new ones cost like $300+, so id say check out ebay.

just remember buy a posi that works with your s10 rear. the early one had 26 spline axles, and the later ones has 28 splines. so whatch out for that.

i dont know exactly what you should get, but i think anything close to the same spacing as the rims you have now will be ok.
