I need some help here guys, what radiator would you recomend to use for a 2.6L swap into an '80? I'm pretty sure my stock rad. ain't gona cut it, but a rad. for a v8 would be massive overkill. should i have my stock one rebuild/recored? or would it just be easyer to get one from summit?

The troop rad is rather large, wide enough to take out a lot of core support before it fits. Personally, I was thinking a small aluminum rad that would fit with only minor mods. Run you about $150 or so. You'd need a rad with outlets done Ford style, inlet high on right outlet low on right.

If you do go for a Troop rad, get it from a 2.6L or 2.8L truck, preference to a 2.8L with AC. The 2.3L troops used a single row, and most 2.6s and all 2.8s had a dual row rad.

I think the stocker LUV rad would be ok for the most part, at least to get it in and running. If you have any overheating issues now, they'd be worse with the bigger motor, but not tremendously worse.

This may work. If you got the WFR bus over there.

I put a 1.8L 4ZB1 motor out of a WFR bus in my ute when i bought it. (it had a cracked cyl head) The radiator wasnt real flash so i put the bus one in with some minor mods. Ive got a spare bus one here so when i get a chance i will go and check if it will go in my luv easily. The reason i say that is that its a 2 core radiator in the WFR but theres easily enough room in the frame and tanks to get it recored with a 3 row core.

If i dont get back to you soon PM me and remind me.]

Cheers. Bob.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

Thanks for the link PapaG i'm going to take some measurements this weekend and find out what I have to work with.

RodeoBob, thanks for the little tidbit on the WFR bus rad. but unfortunatly we don't have those here in the States, all we have is the NPR and FPR trucks, i'm not sure what engines they use, or if even the rads. from those trucks will work.

Nope we doidn't get any of those critters over here, that i know of. They may have imported them to Canada, but trying to find one would be a royal pain in the arse  thanks though for the info.
