Well the i have an oppertunity to buy a 78 chevy luv, 2wd and a stepside bed......BUT the engine knocks. It is pretty bad, sounds like there is someone with a hammer in there... the dash has some cracks, and the seat is in some rough shape..but the body is a-ok and has some surface rust in the bed..nothing all the way through

It is a friends and he is asking 250 bucks for it... i am really tight on cash..but if it is a good deal i will jump on it...just asking for your opinion

thanks

Depends on how much you want to put into it, but I know you could get more than $250 for just the bed!

250 is a good deal for it, but it depends on how tight money is and how easily/cheaply you can get a motor for it..

you could always get the truck and if you cant or dont have the $$$ to fix the motor you could always sell that stepside bed for about what your paying for it

Most of us would buy it in a heart beat. YOu can always get that little money back out of it. But you know what you cn afford. If it's food or rent money don't buy it. If it's beer money, go for it.

yeah that was my plan to sell the bed if money got to much of an issue....
and i talked to the guy and he is gettin back to me, the price is depending on if he gets hired for this new job or not...should know this week.

oh and breaking news....i recieved a call today, from an old lady wanting me to come out to her farm adn look at her chevy luv she has sitting near her barn...it is an old farm truck. So i went out there adn it is a 77 mikado. The body is straight, had surface rust but i couldn't find any holes, and the only dent is the rear bumper. The interior is in as good as shape as a farm truck can be...the carpet is ok, and the seats doesn't have any major holes or rips, the springs or whatever are shot though..and of course the dash is cracked!! the mechanic problems include but are not limited to: needs new head gasket, and guy there said that the head will need to be machined this time around. And the fuel pump in the gas tank is out..

i have an idea of what i would like to pay for this rig, but as usual i like to have the seasoned veterans opinions..:)

what would you offer them??

and what do you think it would cost to get another head gasket and machine the head as well?

thanks for everything
anthony

i'd offer 250 for the truck.. head gasket and machining the head should cost less that $150 I would think. sounds like a nice truck overall..

if money is real tight and you score both trucks, swap the head off the stepside with a new head gasket onto the 77.. cheap swap just to get going
