Newbe here. My 78 luv needs a speed senor. Any Idea where I can find one? My understanding that only the California models had these.

You could try a local GM dealer but I doubt they would still have the part available. Another possibility would be an Isuzu dealer. In the Isuzu crowd St Charles Isuzu is highly regarded for their parts department. You can find them at http://isuzu.stcharlesauto.com/ and just call their parts department. They have some very good people when it comes to finding out of stock parts.

Your best bet is going to be a junkyard though. That engine speed sensor is not a common replacement part, from what I know they don't fail often. If you can find a Cali emissions LUV in a yard, the part should still be there and has a good chance of being functional.

Thanks for the help 800. I did get lucky and found a sensor unit at Portland auto wrecking. They had 5 luv's in the yard, but only the one California model. hope it works, I will keep you posted.

Just a tip, Don't try a chevy dealership, Why? Cause I work at one know and I talked to the guy at our parts depo. and he said that they can't get stuff like that though and said to just go straight to isuzu for them, this is also what my friend that has the 20+ diesels said to do and constantly gets parts from them (do not ask me where this guy is, he doesn't want me to tell were he is, privacy issues)
