I have a problem

when ever I park and go off somewhere and then come back there's a small amount of fluid under my truck, the thing is I have no clue as to where it's coming from. theres fresh oil on the tranny and the front drive shaft and the t-case, but none on the rear drive shaft, and I checked the engine and the oil level is fine, even after driving 250mi early today. so maybe it's the t-case/tranny or some phantom oil is coming out of no where!!! please help!!!!!!!!!

there is a little around the bell housing but not enough to make me think its a rear main seal.

What about the oil filter? Or the Drain plugs?

Rear main, trans/tcase front seal, valve cover gasket, semi-circular plug on the back of the head by the valve cover gasket, all common sources of leaks. Try taking it to the car wash and hosing off the motor with hot soapy water (above and below) and see if you can catch the leak back at the source. (before it spreads all over) Besides, a clean motor is a happier motor. Just be sure you bring a spare disti cap with you, a little water in there and you could be in for a long wait till it gets dried back out. Also, give it a little time to cool off some too, water on the exhaust manifold right away is a good way to get it to crack.

My gut says rear main or tcase front seal. Valve cover should show up higher up, like on the top of the trans bell housing or coming down the side of the motor. Rear main should show some oil leakage from the front of the trans, right where it meets the motor on the bottom side. Tcase seal, well that one should be fairly easy, right at the output shaft.

You might also verify you have motor oil and not gear lube from the front differential. They do leak too sometimes.
