No, there shouldn't be a pump in the tank, that is only will fuel injection that need high pressure pumps. The only one is one the crossmember at the back of the cab. As for the probs, I really wouldn't know what to tell you except maybe check the ground at the pump to see if you are getting full current.

maybe pull the gas line off the carb and turn the truck on. no fuel, then like tilted said, check into the fuel pump, ground, power, fuse, etc.

after consulting my trusty hanes book, it has come to my attention that there is a fuel pump relay. One of those little square jobs tucked close to a fender wall or somewhere( i dont remember- mine are history due to the trusty painless kit). hope that helps.

The relay if you still have it is on the right fender. I had to just finally give up on mine... my original fuel pump that is. I looked and looked for another relay and I could not find one at any parts store anywhere, so I figured that I would have to go to an aftermarket fuel pump so I bought a universal fuel pump and ran a power wire and a ground to a toggle switch and voila fuel pump problem solved. Hope this helps a little !
