Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

Who would want a auto in a 4x4 truck. Sure it's nice not to have to shift, but think about it, if your wheel is sittin' in a hole of mud and you don't have lockers that means your trans is going to be shifting wildly, and the higher gear your in it means you have less torque to the wheels and you ain't gonna get outta that hole. BUT, if you had a straight drive (and if you can't drive one, learn... quick) you can keep it in a lower gear and get outta that hole faster because standards deleiver more torque to the wheels plus you have more control about how fast your wheel's turning...

It is all a matter of preference. Some folks like crawling rocks with an auto because they can control the speed better. You can creep ever so slightly with an auto in a way you just can't with a manual trans. At least not without going through clutch discs like they were a bag of Oreos.

On a 4 cylinder motor though, I'd rather have a stick for most anything. No sense in losing any amount of power/torque when you haven't got much to spare in the first place.
