Im still trying to figure out what I am going to do with my truck. I have been thinking about using a 9'' but I dont know if I want to spend that much money on a LUV. I have been thinking about using a S-10 rear end. One thing I have been wondering about is the wheel width and backspacing and how wide of a tire will fit with out rubbing on the frame or wheel opening. Thanks in advance for your input.

Howdy. I am using a S-10 rear end. With the right spacing of wheels you can get some pretty wide tires under the truck. It appears to be the same width as a stock rear end. I got the rearend for $70 put a posi carrrier in it for $80 and thats all I have done to it. It works great in there and yes it was a direct bolt in.

yes it is really close to the luv rear width
almost a direct bolt in. you have to change the attatchment from drive shaft to the yolk on the rear.
I had one in my luv for about 10 years. it can take alot of abuse, but if you are going V8, you may want to go ahead with the 9"

luvontherocks (cody cannon) has a s10 rear in his truck. he got one out of a 4x4 s10 though. the 4x4 s10 rear is 3 inches wider on both sides, so his tires stick out kinda goofily. its also welded and its held up for about a year now. tons of hard launches and street drivin and stuff. i know it aint smart, but you gotta have some funn once and a while

so how exactly do you weld up the rear carrier and what isnt smart about it ? I have heard it mentioned a few times but dont know much about it other than it makes both tires turn. I noticed it was called not being smart. but why not?

well when you weld a carrier on something that has dinky axles, like an s10 rearend, it puts alot of stress on the axles when you turn. if you were to weld a ford 9 or something with beefy axles it wouldnt matter that much.

when you weld a carrier all it mean is that the spider gears have been welded solid, thus locking the axles.
