Well, i just finshed sandblasting and painting a new exhaust manifold that I got from a guy with like 20+ isuzu pups/LUVS. This manifold has a larger collector hole that otta' get me some more horses and engine response.

It's looks sweet so i'll probably ask my neighbor if I can borrow his digicam to take a pic of it.

Also, if anyone in the North Carolina area want to know where this guy is, gimmie a PM and I'll tell you, but be forewarned, he won't sell any diesel motors. I've tried... and he's got at least 3 turbo diesel trucks.... sum beach....

Got a doughnut to go on the pipe and nuts to put the pipe on the manifold, so all I need to do is sand-blast the pipe and paint it too (why shouldn't new things not look nice) and a flange gasket is the last to get... can't wait to roar with it... And i'll see about pics...

Well, now here's a problem, I noticed a week ago that the floor of my cab was getting hot when I was driving for awhile, so I just blew it off as radiant heat. But just the other day i me and my uncle were driving to the store for ice(having a party) and I noticed a odd noise coming from the tranny (I thought) so the next morning I cranked up the truck and looked under the truck, it was an exhaust leak. Right where the flexible peice is welded to the rest of the muffler was starting to rust through the pipe from the top, well i just dealt with it for a while till yest. coming home on a lunch break it was BAD. Got home and looked and a small peice (bought 1/2') was the only thing holding the pipe on at the bottom of the pipe. So I had a thought about using some high-temp tape to just seal it off, But i knocked the pipe off instead and moved it outta the way some..... IT WAS LOUD! The acceleration increased alot along with engine response. So now my dad is making my get it fixed, (just the flexible peice cut out and a pipe welded in. And getting the manifold and larger pipe put on next week. So I'm hoping my manifold will have the same results as my the straight pipe, but with the nice sound of the flowmaster.

Suprised? No i'm not talking to myself, I'm telling people on here how my exhaust upgrade is going, which you probably have idea what i'm talking about or could do in the first place. How old are you anyways? 12? Cause that's how all of your posts look, no punctuation, everything you say is only 1 line, and it's almost always spelled wrong. Buck up or shut up please.

Now back to the actuall topic of this thread, I've cut out the flex pipe and used a section of pipe from my other truck and clamped it in place, i'll be taking my truck to a shop about tues. wed. of next week to get it worked on and the exhaust properly done.

Will cutting out the flex pipe cause vibration problems? I think that's why it is there. They sell stainless ones at JCWhitney for $20 or so.

welcome to the forums, and no the flex peice isn't there to keep down vibrations, it's to keep the exhaust pipes from cracking due to the torque of the motor... and also no I haven't got the manifold on yet  , but oct. 3 i'm outta school so i'll have the shop put it on then, can't wait to hear and feel the power :P

I'm pretty sure the flex pipe on the factory diesel exhaust system is installed to keep the front pipe (pipe before muffler) from vibrating. Don't get me wrong, but I know the engine doesn't make big time torque. And at the same time it's not a wimp engine either. But I don't think it is installed to prevent cracks because of the torque the engine creates. I had the front pipe on my 82 LUV diesel break about halfway up the length of the pipe. One of the main reasons it did was from vibration and that's a fact. That was a pain when that happened, plus the factory pipe diameter was too small, and a few weeks later I had a 2.25" stainless steel exhaust system installed with MagnaFlow performance muffler. Not many other 4 cylinder vehicles out there beat the sound of that Isuzu 4 cylinder diesel when you're going up hills. It sure is a sweet sound to my ears every time I hear it. Also, speaking of a flex pipe I had a larger diameter flex pipe installed with the system just about in the factory location where the old pipe was. The shop did a great job and it looks as good as a factory exhaust on a brand new truck.

Welp, TADA!!! My manifold is put on!!! And it's awsome!!! It's got that real flowmaster sound at idle, and it can accelerate alot better while at cruising speeds, i've measured the stock manifold and the inside is 1.5" in Dia., the new one is 2" on the inside, at it sounds mean at 35 and 45mpg, but mine sounds like i have an exhuast leak somwhere. Cost me a pretty penny to get it on. I'll post pics soon B/C i have to buy a digi-cam to use for my senior project so i'll find some time to take pics.

I also just bought some bucket seats outta a 92ish corrolla with all the fixin's, (lumbar suport, raise and lower front of seat knob, raise lower rear of seat knob, recliner, and the regular slider tracks) I'll have to make some wood spacers so I can install them, and they might be alittle wide but I hope they're not.
