should i take the foam dash stuff of the dash and just run with the metal underneath it instead of looking at a cracked up dash or what. just wondering if anyone has ever done this and if there are pics i can look at of someones dash that has taken the vinyl foam dash stuff off. any info would be awesome.

I don't have a picture of the dash w/out the foam but I tore mine off... its not to pretty kinda full of holes and recesses. woulda had to pull the windshield out to do a good job of smoothing it so I just glued some thin auto interior carpet and a mexican blanket dash mat to it but with the windows open the old dash was kickin out little foam crumbs all the time so its an improvement to me.dunno if that helps if you can afford it the dash replacements from australia look killer(sorry I dont remember the website)

Here is what mine looked liked when I was replacing my dash pad, a little paint, might not look to bad.

someone suggested the aussies for dash repair but didn't know site. I did a search on 'australia dash repair' and came up with this site,http://www.dashrestorations.com/ausabout.shtml
It doesn't show a Luv dash just a pic of a Monte Carlo and something about most American makes. Worth a try.

i wouldn't try dash resto.....i went by the shop while i was on vacation and the guy told me he had only 1 left and wanted au$475($400) for it (reniging on a lower price he quoted me for local pick-up)

i'll put a $20 bet on your windsheild having a leak already and finding a creative way to do the dash while the glass is out for a new seal being %75 cheaper anyhoo.....

i'm in the process of getting my truck painted and am getting the wind sheild flange painted when it's done so my local uppolstry(sp) guy said he'd do up the dash while the glass is out for $50.......

while we're on the subject of dashboards.............. has anybody replaced the defroster ducts with something a little more spread out?
