sup ppl? im new to the site as u can tell, i was over at my friends house and his dads got a 1980 chevy luv sittin in his yard with a buncha jusnk in it. it needs a battery, a new fuse box thingy, and the timings off, he wants 600 for it, is this worth the money? i think it would be a great investment.

now my next question, is there a good site or anyone out there that can tell me all the common problems with these trucks? i lookd around here but didnt find anything. and i was wondering... how much does it cost to fix the timing problem? should i ask around all the local mechanics? thanks for any advice or posts.

your in the right spot, start way back at all the oldest posts and start reading .everything that has ever been wrong with my truck was written about here before I ever even saw the thing.the people here seem to know almost every corner of these trucks and are willing to help, don't be afraid to ask.my 78 cost me $500 and it had the same kind of neglect but its dependable now. show the guy some printouts from e-bay they usually have at least one rusty luv for less than he's asking.good luck!

yo guitar man jump on it if that is all that is wrong with it i would snatch it. i got my 79 for $1 from my grandfather, it was running but needed (needs) some tlc. it is slowly but surely getting to where i want it. Also there are endless possibilities with these trucks. If you ever have a problem with it or need parts alot of these guys at this site are extremely friendly and will help you if not give the shirt off there back. Only delema i have is that i live in the south and magority people here are up north or far west coast. wish i could be closer to meet some of these people. ok im going to quit now but if you do decided to get it this will be your new home cause this site is like family

i would say buy it. If it even trys to run then it would be worth $600 to me. As for problems, read back and if you dont find what your looking for one of us will be able to help. Good luck and welcome.
