well i showed you guys some pictures of codys truck a while back. we took it to the track yesterday for the first time and got 3 runs in. the first run was a 14.39@74mph. this was the very first time that he had raced, so he let off at the 1/8 thinking it was the 1/4. on the second run he got a 14.34@94mph. that run the truck was really lean and it was cuttin out perty bad. so we richend up the carb and reset the timing, and he ran a 13.50@103mph.
so i guess thats pretty good for the very first time at the track. here some pics.

mkay. went out to the track on the 20th. got there, it rained. ok, wait and hour and a half. they get the track dried off and we start racin.

the first run he made the track screwed him over. they were only letting us run 1/8 runs cuz the end of the track was wet, but cody gets up to the line and they announce that we're gonna be running quarters cuz the track is drier. ok cody get up does his burnout and then the officials make hime wait for like a minute so that they can tell him that he can only run an 1/8 run. theyre saying this after they annouced that the track is doin 1/4 runs. ok.
so they let him stage, and by this time his slicks are cold. soo he ran a 14.00@74 because they told him to let off at the 1/8, but they gave him a quarter mile time. pissed me and him off.

ok. now that were back on the staging lanes for the second run everyone notices that the belt on his motor is streched, BIG TIME. i guess during the first run the belt flipped over in the pulleys. so the belt is super loose. we all pushed the truck the rest of the way down the staging lanes and into the burnout pit. he starts it up and does his 5000rpm burnout. his dad told me when he came back up to me that the belt had flipped over again.
at this time im getting kinda scard that the belt is gonna break while hes goin down the track and the motors gonna overheat really bad. well he did the burnout and he stages and gets off the line really good. i mean like the best hes ever done. hes shiftin at 6500 every gear, chirped 2nd hardcore...

HE RAN A 12.864 @ 108 MPH!!!!!!

the belt flew off at the end of the track. dont know where it went. so i get back to the pits, and the guy he raced was a pal and had towed him back to his pits. i guess the motor got up to 240*.
well we need a new belt now, and we done have a spare. so his brother and his other friend take off to go get another belt. i guess the emmett parts stores werent open, so they went all the way to ontario oregen and got like 4 belts. while theyre gone some of the guy's girlfriends start goin around the pits asking if we could borrow a belt. by the time they were done, they had to have tried 50 belts and none of them fit.
but luckily the other guys got back with a belt that fit.

so for the third run, it was about 11pm and it got really cold. so he only ran a 13.1@10? mph.

so all in all... he did really kick ass for what it is.
hes got the fastes vehivle at the high school, so i guess thats bragging rights!!

ok. sorry for the novel.

Cool story. It was a fun read and sounds like you guys had fun all in all. Pretty quick truck too.

I never could get those v-belts to stop flipping over and breaking on mine either. Ended up going with a multi-v flat belt like they use on the new serpentine setups by buying a kit from March.

Very cool. The times are basically better every run. That's just how you want it.

well things didnt go good at all today. first of he was late to get to the track cuz of work and having to do so finish work on the truck. second, he only got one time trial in, which was a 13.2 @ 102. he had a 15mph head wind and 81 luvs are not the most aerodynamic vehicles made. and then thirdly, when he got up to do his bracket race, he overstaged and the officals DQ'd him. so not a good day. s**t happens, theres always next month.

well the he took the luv out to the track for the forth time last friday. hes done a whole bunch of stuff to it since the last races, so one again he doesnt know what its gonna run.

he got 3 runs in. the first run was a 13.01@106. really good for the first run with the holley.
second run he got a 13.6@like 100somthin. he got excsited and shifted at 4000 in first.

the 3 run wasnt good though. the line lock locked after he launched and he got DQ'd. the line lock wasnt working good on the front tires though. were probably gonna make it so it locks the back tires so he stall out higher.

all in all it was a pretty good day.
