I have to put another fuel pump on my '81 Luv. I had always assumed it was in the tank, but I was crawling around under it today putting in a shift kit and thought I would look. I found what I think is the pump, but it's in-line. Was that the pump or is it a relay or something?

The pump and filter are both in-line.

It's on the drivers side, foward of the fuel tank on the crossmember. Follow the fuel line back to the tank and you'll find the filter.

Sweet!! That made that job much easier than I thought it would be. Save me some money too, I was going with everything new from the tank forward. Thanks

how hard it is to put a shift kit in when it still in the vehicle? also, if the shift kit is in a tranny can you put it in a different tranny? my dad has a hardcore shiftkit in his truck and he doesnt want it anymore. can you put the valvebody from one tranny to another? he wants a stock one and i want the kitted one.

The kit was pretty easy to put in. Just drop the valve body and switch out a couple of plates drill a couple of holes, don't loose the check balls  and put it back together.
