so just found out highschool drags are may 6 this year. so soon not sure what to do. so i sold my completed luv and been working on another one got the motor and tranny in and all mounted, got a fan and radiatior and drivers side exhaust done. Got the rearend but needs to be installed along with a gas tank and a driveline. plus i gotta put the truck box on and pretty much the whole front end not to menchin a shifter and linkage for the tranny and throttle linkage and peddle. so my question is im getting a built 355 about 450hp should i put in the luv and try to finish it to take to drags or should i just drop the motor in my freakin 5000lbs 1980 chevy shortbed c10 ??????? thanks alot guys[/b]

sounds like it's time for you and some buds to put in a little overtime and get this thing wrapped up.. I'd lean towards throwing in the new motor so long as you can get the break in done right. It would sure be a lot more fun in the LUV.. just my .02

me and pee_roys school has a drag car. i fixed the carb on it yesterday and got it running. did a couple powerbrakes in it. had to clean out the carbon and clean off the tire
another friend of ours is building a tow bar so we can tow it out to the track and maybe get some runs in.
heres some pics. ***EDIT*** the pictures work now! (damn webshots)

well, here there are 2 or 3 schools that have like 75 people racing for each school. they get pretty competetive, but our school has like 3 or 4 that race, so we dont get alot of points.

I just got back from the races and I am both kinda glad and kinda mad about the E.T. I got. I was a 14.32 @ 100.4mph, but I was really hopeing for a 13. I think the next race I do will be in the 13's because every time time I raced, which was only three, I whent from a 14.8 down to a 14.3, and I still knew that my time could still be better. I wish I had a stall converter in my truck that would do it. :( Because my truck was really boggy on the take off, because my powerband is from 3,000 to 6,000 rpms, and I got 307:1 gear ratio with 28'' tall tires, so for that first little bit of time untill 3000 I went hardley no were so thats were most of my time took place was the take off. I even tried to stall my truck better but it only goes to 1,200 rpms before it powerbrakes, yes its a stock converter. I am also going to go with a single plenum intake (victor jr.) so that should help me out too. I did have lots of fun at the track though. :D
