 Post subject: Stock Engine Swap
PostPosted: Tue Apr 12, 2005 1:02 am
I have a clean($150) 73 LUV with a blown engine and a ($50) 77 with a good engine(both 2wd).The body on the 77 in totally rusted out!!!!!!!!!.Has anyone ever put a later 1.8L in a early body?I want sometime for daily driving and gas mileage.I know it can be done but is it worth the trouble.Looks like the throttle cable will need to be changed, carb is on differnt side.

Thanks

My 72 had a 79 motor in it, and the only thing I can remember being diffrent was the throttle cable. It was kinda peeled back[ the black coating] and if I remember right, looked like it had been modified [to say the least] to fit to the carb.

The motor mounts on the frame are farther forward on the older luvs too.
