i'm wondering if anybody knows how to get dents out the side of beds.not dents going inward.they kind of look like someone hit the inside of the bed and the dents are protruding outward(never seen it before)i don't think i could grind them down.the dents are pretty good sizes ranging in nickel size up to a head of a hammer.they make my truck look like crap in the sun

Try using a body hammer and dolly. Then a little filler to get it smooth. The goal is to have the dented metal be perfectly smooth (yeah right!) or have it go slightly inward toward the bed so that filler can be added to make it smooth on the outside. There may be slight bumps on the inside of the bed, but the outside will look good.

mine is still like that. but its got ALOT more serious body problems :!:

the reason it happens is the LUV does'nt have a double sided bedside so when ever some thing hits it from the inside of the bed (ie: toolbox sliding around from me trying to do 90mph on country roads :D )

however the good thing is its fairly easy to fix and the bedside dont rot out as bad, look at a old s-10

If you ever get your sides straight, i recommend the Rhino Lining. It's the best thing you can do for your truck bed. It has a lifetime warranty and looks great. Bryan

I had a body shop do my paint and body work, when he saw the bed, he said this is never going to be strait cause of the single wall construction. So what he did, is inset all of the dents, filled, sanded then painted. Afterwards, I took the bed and had it sprayed with Linex bed liner and you cant even see the inside bed dents.

it is meant to be a permanent thing, its not made to be taken out, if you even could take it out in one peice... you can remove it but it cant be re-used

There is such a body hammer that the head is swirled, so when you start hitting the metal it actually "shrinks" the metal, thus, eliminating some of your dents. I still think the best thing to do....if you planned on keeping you Luv & possibly using the bed is once you have the sides straight, have a panel welded on the inside from the top of the bed down to the floor & then redrill you drain holes to accommadate the new panels. The only bad thing about spray in liners is if you're in an accident. They chip all up & are hard to have look as good as when originally sprayed.
food for thought Six Out.
