I bought this truck from a friend that bought it expecting to fix the motor and it be a cheap and easy turnaround. He had alot of problems with it and ended up giving up on it. So I traded my old S10 for it that I had not touched in a while.
What it looked like when I went to look at it. Before the motor/trans was pulled...

Took a few pics of the interior comming out...

Heres the console. The sides were cardboard covered in tweed, the top was thin pieces of aluminum...
Image
Heres the back of the cab wall. It was cut and dropped down, not welded at all, it has a few screws holding it in place and the same aluminum ducting tape as the floor holding it in place...
Image
Heres the interior fully gutted. I can't wait to grind on it and get ot ready to patch in the spots with rust holes...
Image
Another shot of the interior fully stripped...
Image
Heres a shot of the shock where it was rubbing on the bag...
Image
And where the upper ball joint nut was rubbing on the bag...
Image
Shot from the front of the interior stripped, you can also see where I started sanding the roof and locating high and low spots.

Heres the transmission tunnel. It was pieces of thin aluminum pop- rivited in...
Image
I started working on the wiring. I pulled all of the stereo wiring, and got alot of the rest sorted out. Heres a pic of the "fuse box" Notice the bolts in place of fuses???
Image
I got all of the 1/4" thick body filler off and down to the metal on the drivers side and around the stereo surround. I cut my fingers and they started bleeding so I didn't take a pic of the dash where I stopped...
Image
The dash...
Image
Here is how thick the filler was where the glove box was removed...
Image
Never did post a pic of the hacked up Radiatior support...
Image
Rear setup before...
Image
Fuel cell removed and bed floor showing once again. I traded the 3 gallon shown here for a 6 gallon today...

In the middle of removing the thick filler on the drivers side of the bed. And the door handle down to the metal...
Image
Front view of the same thing as above...
Image
The bedside most of the way down to the metal. Minus a few extremely low spots where it looks like someone took a ball pin hammer to it...
Image
bedside done pretty much and showing the taillight fillers that are 4-5 pieces of thin strips welded together instead of making real fillers...
Image
Roof down to bare metal...
Image
Showing the Radiator support where it was chopped up...
Image
Showing how thick the filler was on the back corner...
Image
This is how thick it was...

The magical floating bags that are not attatched to the axle...
Image
Front passenger side not attatched. I'm guessing someone unbolted it and forgot to put the nut back on it???
Image
Went back over the bed and got some of the remaining bondo from the low spots. Got the door most of the way done, pillar, and got the top of the fender done. The side of the fender has silver paint from someone testing a color earlier...
Image
Gas filler...
Image
Image
Door handel. Showing that it was not cut to fit, but held up to the back side and tacked in...
Image
Taillight filler???

Got the rest of the drivers side done minus a small area on the front fender near the headlight...
Image
Image
Image
Cut the shock brackets off and grinded them smooth...
Image
Image
Image
Image
Got the windshield out so I can start on the dash...
Image
Image
Side vents are cut so I can make a solid filler...
Image
Cut the gas filler out and filler that had a pretty big gap that was holding the bed floor to the bedside...
Image
Image
Front drivers fender is down, drivers side is done...
Image
Image
Alot of holes from where the mirror looked ot be ripped off and a large dent was attempted to be pulled...

Heres a pic of the parts truck I may get...
Image
Cut the fender support on the driver side to see how much room I will have for larger wheels, and so it will actually lay another inch or so in the front after I cut a little off of the trans. crossmember...
Image
This is a pic of it an inch from laying the front of the cab. I should have room for a narrow zero offset 18 with a 35-40 series tire...
Image
I got a better pic of the "taillight filler". It still does what you see in person no justice...
Image
Side marker light on the front fender was taped from the backside with aluminum ducting tape and filler was spread over the front side...
Image
Dash is down to the metal all most all the way. Minus a few corners, it went down nice and smooth with a wire wheel on a grinder...
Image
Image
I cut the leaf hangers off the drivers side frame because they were keeping the truck from teetering on the transmission crossmember. The rear of the cab on the drivers side lays now. I'll cut the passenger side when I move it to the other side of hte garage and start on the passenger side...

I thought about not using the shocks on the doors, but this was something that was done pretty good, so I'm going to leave it but clean it up a little. The pic also shows how much of the filler was not welded to the floor...
Image
Pulled up a patch that was riveted to the floor and found two pretty big holes. The brake pedal was cut, the two pieces were stuck next to each other and welded, instead of sectioning it...
Image
Started on the cab floor and back wall, I got alot of the drivers side done. There was alot of surface rust, but it all came up with a little work. There is alot of rust from where the front of the seat was forward. I'm going to make a new floorboard to go over the existing one or cut it out and replace it with a new one...

Got a little bit done today...
Pulled up the panel that had about 20 pop rivits holding it down, more of the tape, and some nasty white caulking that was used on alot of the seams. Underneath some of the metal was decent and came out decent with a wire wheel. A big portion of it was rusted and there are alot of big rust holes...
Image
You have to look at this pic for a little bit to take it all in. The floor is not welded in at all because it was rusted away and there was nothing to weld to. I'll be cutting alot more out of the passenger side than the driver side to replace with good metal...
Image
Got a little more done on the back wall...
Image
The back half of the floor is a little more than halfway done. I still need to go over most of it to get the small surface rust off...
Image
The dash is down and ready to have the top filled and grinded minus the fillers being cut out and grinded down on the front where the glovebox and two small patches on each side are...

I copy/pasted all of the posts I made with pics here to make it easier to see everything I have done and why I have done it. If you have any questions feel free to ask. If you have any suggestions go for it I'm all ears and am expecting alot of comments here.

I started a thread on an S10 site and someone suggested I post it on here. I never heard of this site before then. Sorry for registerring and making a big thread full of pics, but I thought some of you would find this interesting. I'll keep updating this thread as I am the ones on four other forums.

I saw nowhere to introduce myself, so I guess this will serve as my intro to the forum.
I also have a 2 door 85 Blazer for a daily...

I'm getting it all down to bare metal to straighten it before priming. I'm not going to paint it until pretty much everything else is done, so it will be in primer for a little while. I currently need a motor, stock hood and a few other things. I'm looking at buying the orange truck for alot of parts to make it go really smooth and be capable of driving alot.

Does anyone know if and where I could get a remanufactured floorboard for the truck so I can just cut the old one out and weld a new one in???

Yes I'm on dfwminis.
The shocks did not stick out of the hood. But they were mounted like that I guess because it wass the easiest way he saw to do it. I have alot of plans for ir, so check this tread often.
