I found another web site that has info and parts for the GM 60* V6 motors. check out http://www.gmv6.com , has some pretty good info and parts for making these engines roar.

i was talkin to my dad about the whole engine thing. he said id probably do better finding a rodeo or trooper and just take all the running gear. So its a lil further in the distance now  .

:2gunfire: i went paintballin today and my gun took a crap on me. so im lookin for a new one. luckily they are only 80-100 buck so im gonna take the money from my tax return and get a nice one. (not the 500 dollar ones lol) :smt067

i went and checked out that 60degree... website and there is a total of seven posts on that topic.. not im back to debating on whether to convert it or not.

they say the water issue can be solved but just simply flipping the intake around. although it will hit the power steering pump (which i don't have)

the starter issue, from what i understand, can be solved by getting an isuzu trooper tranny.

mounts i don't believe i will have any problem with.

so....i don't know maybe ill take a crak at it.

if you were in this situation what would you do.

a) try it... you all ready have the engine

or

b) try to sell it and get your money back asap!

thanks
anthony

(if you could check out the website and attempt to interpret it in simple english the link is on page 1 of this topic and the forum is engine swap. the topic is 2.8l conversion? or something to that effect and the author is yours truley luvmann1980)

I'd choose
c) grab a different block and work from there with the parts from the engine you already have, should beable to pick up a pretty good block from a salvage yard for pretty cheap.

thats my opinion, or at least thats what i would do if I were in your shoes

If your are taking about the automatic in the Trooper then i don't know, all i know is that it's a GM tranny, and that it's a 4 speed, and that i'll never ever buy one, or a truck with one in it.

As for the manual tranny, no it is not electronic, it is the MAU-5 tranny that GM still uses today in the Colorado and Canyon. it is a 5 speed.

hey rez if your lookin for parts try these guys
http://www.Car-Part.com
it is a network of junk yards and it is free to search.
i was lookin at the trannys.

and yes the info i was lookin for was on the manual tranny.

I found that with the trooper tranny i won't have to redrill the starter :D
right now it is just the intake that concerns me ill probably just get an intake for a RWD application. i think it should fit cuz the blocks are the same i believe.

That site is great!!! looks like i'll be looking locally for an engine though, $1000-600 bucks for a 2.8, ouch!!!

Isuzu trannys an't much better ether.

my idea is to grab a '86-'87 5 speed, and then use a bellhousing from a '89-'91 Trooper, and then hopfully things will work out.

well i'v become a member of the planetisuzoo's forum page, and they have some pretty good info on engine swaps for troopers, which are very similar to Luvs. what i have found is that it is posible to put a 2.3 intake onto a 2.6 head and block, and therefore run a carb on it. the nice thing about this is that the 2.6 is a drop in on a Luv. what i'm trying to get info on is whether or not a 5 speed from a '86-'87 trooper will bolt up to that. I think it may, but to make it work you would have to use the flex plate and cluch from a '88-up trooper, rodeo, amigo... to make the whole system run right. as to the carb you would most likely have to use a Weber 32/36 DGEV, or an Outlaw 38/38 DGEV, and have the carb tuned for the bigger engine. well we shall see if this is even posible, because i can get a 2.6 for pretty cheap, and the intake for the 2.3 wouldn't be too hard to find. That and the best thing of all is that it all drops in!!!
